“I’m not Mr. Fashionista,” professes Philip Sterling, the owner of CENTRE, the relatively new “sophisticated streetwear” boutique. While he may not claim to be so fashion inclined, the 2005 University of Virginia–Richmond graduate is pleasing hip shoppers who seek the perfect accent to any outfit. From limited-edition sneakers to glamorous eyewear, CENTRE draws inspiration from Sterling’s travels abroad, reflected in both the shop’s merchandise and its style. “The store’s interiors are Manhattan-disco-penthouse-meets- Japanese-modernism,” says Sterling.
