Growing Panes

The window walls and outdoor living spaces make the 2,400 square foot house seem much larger than it actually is. Architect Burton Baldridge made the most out of a structural beam by constructing an outdoor steel fireplace within the stucco.
The living area off the kitchen is where the family spends much of their time. Burton designed and built the light fixture over the dining room table, made of powder-coated aluminum. The dining table is by B&B Italia from Spazio and the chairs are from BoConcept. The couch is a Grand Comfort design based on a Le Corbusier model. The functional magazine stand is from Design Within Reach.
Baldridge designed and built the olive green resin-topped table with a stainless steel base. All countertops and flooring in the kitchen are Lueders limestone.
The spacious kitchen with wide counter tops make cooking and entertaining easy. The floor-to-ceiling raw silk curtains made by Leslye Womack allow for privacy while adding a pop of color.
The sitting area off the hallway, which doubles as a guest room, is a perfect spot to read a selection from the family’s extensive library. Matt Letour built the bookcases out of maple wood. The red couch is from Design Within Reach. The coffee table is a Heywood-Wakefield vintage and the side table is by Blu Dot. The daybed in the backroom is by Herman Miller.

The wooden exterior of the house is covered with the Brazilian hardwood
ipe. The outdoor walkways are made of Lueders limestone and the overhang surrounding the house helps to keep things cool in the summer.
